**  Students entering the 9th grade in 2006 must pass 3 out of 5 Regents with a 65 or above to receive a local diploma.

*** Students entering the 9th grade in 2007 must pass 4 out of 5 Regents to receive a local diploma.

     Students entering the 9th grade in September 2008 or after must pass all 5 required Regents with a 65 or above to receive a diploma.

New York State Regents Exams

 

ENGLISH (ELA): The English Regents is a two-day, four-part, six-hour exam that requires students to write essay responses to a speech, a text related graphic, literary texts and an interpretive statement. The exam will also have multiple choice questions worth 25%. Students usually take this Regents Exam in the 11th grade.

 

SCIENCE: Students must pass one of the Regents Exams in science: Living Environment (Biology), Earth Science, Chemistry, or Physics.  In order to qualify for an “Advanced Regents Diploma,” students must pass two science regents exams with a 65 or higher.

SOCIAL STUDIES 2 Regents Exams

®      Global History: Includes multiple choice, document-based questions, and two essays.

®      U.S. History: Include multiple-choice, Document Based Questions, and two essays

LANGUAGE OTHER THAN ENGLISH: There are NO LONGER Regents Exams offered in Languages other than English.
